  1. I'm using Growl for Windows. I didn't set global Growl password in Jenkins and any password in Growl as well. But I couldn't receive any notification. The Growl log is as below:

    Timestamp: 9/16/2011 11:32:58 AM
    Received From: 10.10.16.102:47702
    -----------------------------------------------------
    Invalid message - either the message format was incorrect or the password was incorrect
    -----------------------------------------------------

    Status: SUCCESS
    Build Number: 12Growler”SV•:×Ë<‹tϦª

    Result: Invalid request. Either the message was malformed or the password was incorrect.

    To receive notification, I must set password in Jenkins and Growl. Did this plugin add anything as password? But Growl for Max and Linux can receive notification without a need for password.

    1. You might want to file a Jenkins JIRA ticket for this . . . some authors don't monitor their Plugin page for comments.

  2. Lack of doc making this a bit difficult to start with.

    This plugin push the notification to growl client.

    I'm using a Growl for Windows and this is what I need to setup.

    A) setting up Jenkins server:

    1. Install Plugin

    2. Setup Growl password

    Jenkins->Manage Jenkins->Configure System-> Global Growl Settings -> Password   # set password here

    3. Configure the jobs

    Job-> Add post-build action -> Growl

    B) Configuring Growl (for Windows) client

    1. Open Growl (right click on the Growl icon in systray)

    2. Security Tab -> Password Manager -> +

        a. Put the same password as configure in Jenkins system configuration.

        b. check "Allow network notifications"

    That's all.
